Background

Dr. Amber Soja is resident in the Climate Science, Chemistry and Dynamics Branches of Atmospheric Sciences at the NASA Langley Research Center. Her scientific research has focused on using Earth Observations and models as tools to explore the dynamic interactive relationships that exist between fire regimes, fire weather, air quality, the biosphere, atmosphere, and climate systems. She has 25 years of research experience and has taken part in and led numerous interdisciplinary, national, and international field campaigns that investigated feedbacks between fire and fuels, ecosystems, and weather and climate, many focused on the beautiful expansive wildlands of remote Siberia. Amber is proud to have worked to enhance the use of satellite data in stakeholder agencies, and she has an affinity for guiding Earth Observations towards ‘usable’ information for sustainable benefit in partnership with public- and private-sector organizations.
