Supporting the Western U.S. with NASA Data
In the arid American west, where mountain snowpack often must sustain communities through long, dry summers, managing water resources has always been a challenge. And with growing populations, changing climates and shifting land use, water supplies face increasing pressure.
NASA’s Western Water Applications Office (WWAO) aims to help. Part of the Water Resources program area, WWAO was created to help western resource managers integrate NASA Earth observations into their decision-making processes. WWAO works closely with local, state and federal water authorities to equip them with valuable scientific resources on the region’s changing hydrology and to identify innovative solutions to pressing challenges.
