Tropical Storm Barry formed the morning of July 11th, 2019 in the Gulf of Mexico, and was upgraded to a hurricane on July 12th. Tropical Storm Warnings and Hurricane Watches are up for portions of the Gulf of Mexico. The NHC is forecasting Barry to be a Category 1 hurricane at landfall. Current forecast and numerical weather guidance indicate potentially 20”+ of rain in parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. The NASA Disasters Program is in contact with FEMA and the National Guard to provide NASA satellite and airborne science products as needed to aid in response in recovery.
