In this project, LST analysis is combined with an analysis of vegetative cover and socioeconomic characteristics to identify the neighborhoods most at-risk from heat-related impacts to prioritize for tree planting initiatives.

Albedo derived from Landsat 8 & 9 OLI data throughout summer 2019 to 2023. White beige pixels signify effective solar radiation reflection (higher albedo), followed by peach, violet, and dark purple. This data is input for the InVEST Urban Cooling model, which calculates heat dissipation efficiency. Light-colored roofs and dense vegetation can increase albedo. Urban areas with lots of purple patches may be more vulnerable to heat, making them a priority for heat mitigation efforts.
