When disasters strike, we work with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners to provide insights that inform decision-making and reduce impacts on lives and livelihoods.

As a core element of the Disasters Program within NASA’s Earth Science Division, the Disaster Response Coordination System provides trusted, timely, and actionable science to aid organizations actively responding to disasters. The System uses a “One-NASA” approach that integrates relationships with disaster science and technology initiatives, tapping into the agency’s end-to-end Earth science capabilities and unifying expertise across NASA centers. We create skilled response communities through coordination, engagement, and learning, empowering partners with Earth science so they can respond to disasters more effectively.

Work With Us

We strive to build strong relationships with partner organizations during blue-sky periods so that when disasters strike, we can quickly provide valuable information to aid decision-making. This two-way information exchange allows us to learn about each partner’s specific needs, while they learn about our capabilities and how we can most effectively collaborate during times of crisis.

If you are a member of a disaster management organization, we encourage you to reach out to our team at drcs@nasa.gov to let us know more about your organization and your community’s disaster response needs.
