A severe winter storm, or “bomb cyclone” is creating blizzard-like snow and wind conditions on the East Coast of the United States. The storm rapidly intensified into one of the most powerful winter storms in more than 40 years when a surge of moist ocean air moved north to meet a frigid blast of Arctic air. The storm has brought frigid temperatures, snow, and ice as far south as Florida.
