NASA’s Earth Science Disaster Response Team program is actively engaged in interagency coordination activities surrounding Hurricane Irma’s impacts and longer-term recovery. Efforts are focused on supporting post-event assessments, including coordinating with partners across South Florida, development of post-event products from multiple satellite assets, and facilitating airborne data acquisition requests. NASA imagery will also continue to be used longer-term by scientists who will likely examine some of the longer-term impacts to the area’s vegetation and ecosystems, along with impacts throughout the Caribbean.
