NDTI processed imagery of a portion of Narragansett Bay created with Landsat 8 OLI Tier 1 Level 2 imagery from June 25, 2024. The aqua shade in the Bay shows areas with low turbidity, which was low in the Upper Bay on that particular day. The land surrounding the Bay is processed in a false color composite to mimic a starry night sky.

Turbidity calculated from Landsat 9 OLI-2 data in Newport Bay on January 17th, 2023. Shades of green indicate higher turbidity and shades of blue indicate lower turbidity. Areas with high turbidity can prohibit eelgrass growth, therefore it’s of interest to identify these areas.
